What to do with Your Garden This Year: Fun Checklist

In 2023, there are lots of fun and exciting things that you can do with your garden.

Fuelled by your creative drive, the opportunities are endless, whether you have a small, medium, or large-size garden. Here’s a fun garden checklist for you to progress through over the coming months.

Give Your Garden a Fresh Design

Is your garden looking a dated and tired? With the hustle and bustle of daily life, many people simply haven’t had the time to give their gardens the attention they deserve over recent years. As a result, the appearance of their gardens have plummeted.

If you can relate to this, it’s time to give your garden a much-needed refresh, from new plants to new paving. You can make the design process a whole lot easier by using this guide to designing your garden. It’s very beginner-friendly, so anyone can read and understand it.

Once your garden has the perfect new design, all your effort will have been more than worth it. Not only will you feel great about it, but your neighbours will also (no doubt) be jealous!

Plant Some Summer-Flowering Bulbs

Summer is approaching fast, so there’s no better time than now to plan some summer-flowering bulbs. Here are just some of the best ones that you can plant and enjoy:

  • Freesia
  • Allium
  • Oriental Lily

You can get as many summer-flowering bulbs as you like from your local garden centre or by ordering them online – it’s entirely up to you. The key, though, is to pick ones that complement the colour scheme and aesthetic that you’re going for. For example, orange and blue plants traditionally complement each other nicely.

Add Some Bird Feeders

If it’s common for birds to fly down from above and visit your garden throughout the day, then why not add some bird feeders? Not only do bird feeders look great, but they also provide birds with some of the food that they need to survive. It’s a win-win situation! When it comes to locating your bird feeders, it’s recommended that you place with within short distances of trees. If your garden actually features some trees, then you can even hang the bird feeders from the trees, instead. The higher the bird feeders are, the more difficult it is for pesky cats and other animals to mess with them and steal any food.

Have a Garden House Installed

During the summertime, there’s no better way to enjoy the fruits of your labour by relaxing outside with an ice-cold drink will sitting in a garden house. Here, you can kick your feet up, do some reading, create art, and pretty much anything else you like. If you don’t have a garden house already, there’s nothing stopping you from getting a nice one for your garden. Surprisingly, they aren’t as expensive as you would imagine. Plus, you don’t need to get a huge one, as small garden houses can still have enough space for 4 to 6 people.
